The Side Effects of Estradiol
Estradiol is a human hormone found in both females and males. It is an estrogen that promotes healthy reproductive functioning and sexual activity. And, while it is also a steroid derived from cholesterol, it is an important (make that vitally important) hormone because of its direct connection to healthy sexual activity and reproduction.
As I mentioned a moment ago, it is produced by the human body – on a daily basis by males … about three out of every thirty days by females. And this naturally-produced hormone is vitally important for a healthy and natural sex life … and for successful reproduction.
Estradiol is also important for other reasons. The hormone your body produces helps promote good health for your bones … for your liver … your brain … even for your blood vessels. Clearly, this steroid is no ordinary hormone. When naturally produced, it works wonders – with no side effects.
But … Estradiol is also produced in pharmaceutical laboratories. The hormone has been replicated into an easy-to-swallow pill by pharmaceutical companies and the brilliant scientists who work for them. Laboratory-produced Estradiol is virtually identical to the Estradiol your body normally produces in abundance. But, there is one difference … a significant difference.
The Estradiol you buy at your pharmacy can produce side effects, some of which are serious. What kinds of side effects are the by-products of a consumed Estradiol pill? There are lots of them. For example:
Women who take Estradiol pills, even when prescribed by their personal physician, are subject to any, or all, of these side effects – headaches (affects about 20% of all women who take Estradiol pills) … dizziness … breast pain (sometimes severe breast pain) … an increased risk of yeast infections … redness and irritation to skin when used topically … flu-like symptoms … arthritic pain … occasional hair loss … stomach upset … nausea … menstrual irregularities … and much, much more.
Obviously, Estradiol medication can cause problems, maybe not the kind that will kill you, but certainly the kind that will cause you lots of distress, anxiety and discomfort. That’s why it’s critically important that you consult with your physician before taking even one Estradiol pill. He or she will explain the risks and the benefits to you and, hopefully, help you to avoid the risks.
Frankly, there are other, more serious dangers that may await you if you opt to take Estradiol pills to help with reproductive and sexual functioning. These dangers can be deadly. Here’s why …
Other possible side effects that can result from regular use of Estradiol pills include the following: heart attack … stroke … blood clots … more – all problems, serious problems, that can strike women … especially those who are over age 35 and smoke. Women over 50 face these dangers even if they don’t smoke.
So, does the fact that there are so many side effects connected to the use of Estradiol pills mean that you should avoid them like the plague? No. You can enjoy the natural benefits of Estradiol – and minimize the risks – when you take these pills under the supervision of your personal physician.
